Smoked to Perfection and Served with Love: A Grand Opening in Madrona You Had to See (and Taste!)
As a local creative, I’ve had the pleasure of working with some amazing businesses, but being a part of the launch of Richard’s Too Good Bbq in Madrona was truly special. From crafting their exterior signage to capturing the energy of their highly anticipated grand opening, it was clear from the start that this wasn’t just another restaurant – it was a labor of love, years in the making, and exactly what our Seattle community needed.
For those who don’t know,Richard’s Too Good Bbq is the brainchild of Richard and Lauren Mullen, a remarkable couple with a clear vision: “To build community one delicious meal at a time”. Their passion for authentic barbecue, made with locally sourced ingredients and a whole lot of heart, shines through in everything they do. You might even recognize Richard’s Too Good Seattle Barbecue Sauce, a local favorite that perfectly embodies their commitment to quality and flavor. This gluten-free, low-sodium sauce is a testament to their dedication to wholesome, delicious food, and it’s just a hint of the magic they bring to the table (literally!).
When I was approached to create the exterior signage, I immediately felt the warmth and genuine spirit behind their brand. We worked together to design something that not only represented their delicious offerings but also felt welcoming and inviting to the Madrona neighborhood. Seeing the finished sign proudly displayed felt like the first piece of a beautiful puzzle coming together.
Then came the grand opening day – and what a day it was! The air was buzzing with excitement, neighbors were chatting, and the aroma of slow-smoked barbecue filled the street. It was evident that this wasn’t just a business opening; it was a celebration of community and the realization of Richard and Lauren’s dream. The outpouring of love and support for this incredible family was truly heartwarming. It was clear that Madrona, and Seattle as a whole, was ready for a place like this – a place where you can gather with loved ones, savor incredible food made with passion, and experience true hospitality.
The highlight of the day? A visit from Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, who came to show his support, participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and even be the first in line to purchase their amazing barbecue in person! It was a powerful moment that underscored the significance of this new addition to our city.
Photographing the event was an absolute joy. Every smile, every shared plate, every congratulatory hug captured the essence of what Richard and Lauren have built. It’s more than just barbecue; it’s about connection, community, and creating a space where everyone feels welcome.
If you’re in Seattle, make sure to visit Richard’s Too Good Bbq in Madrona. Prepare for some seriously delicious barbecue, a warm and inviting atmosphere, and a true taste of what it means to build community, one incredible meal at a time. Trust me, your taste buds (and your heart) will thank you.
