Flyer Design for the First-Ever Champions of Change!
Behind the Scenes: Creating the Buzz for the First-Ever Champions of Change!
Wow, what an experience! I recently had the incredible opportunity to create the promotional marketing materials for the very first Champions of Change event, held at Seattle’s amazing Climate Pledge Arena. For those who haven’t heard, this was a celebrity game unlike any other, bringing together some of Seattle’s biggest sports legends – think Seahawks Super Bowl champions and other iconic figures from our city’s rich athletic history – for a night of competition and pure entertainment.
Knowing the star power involved was immense, to say the least. We’re talking about the likes of coaches Marshawn Lynch and Sue Bird going head-to-head against Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp! And the player roster? Absolutely stacked! Doug Baldwin, Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Jermaine Kearse, Jamal Crawford, Isaiah Thomas… the list just kept going (seriously, check out the full lineup below!). Having Kevin Calabro and Joel McHale on play-by-play? Pure gold.
The energy surrounding this event was palpable from the start. My task was to capture that excitement and translate it into visually compelling marketing materials that would get Seattle pumped. This involved designing everything from social media graphics and website banners to potential posters and even email templates.
The key was to highlight the star power while also emphasizing the unique nature of the event. It wasn’t just a game; it was a chance to see these legends in a fun, competitive environment, all under one roof at the state-of-the-art Climate Pledge Arena.
I spent a lot of time playing with different concepts, trying to find the right balance between showcasing individual star power and the collective excitement of the event. Incorporating the Champions of Change logo with the iconic imagery of Climate Pledge Arena was also a priority. We wanted to make sure everyone knew this was a major Seattle event.
Seeing the promotional materials go live and watching the buzz build online was truly rewarding. Knowing that my work was contributing to the hype for such a fantastic event, bringing together so many beloved Seattle figures, was an amazing feeling.
The first-ever Champions of Change at Climate Pledge Arena was undoubtedly a night to remember, and I’m incredibly proud to have played a part in bringing it to life through the promotional materials. Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes glimpses into creative projects!
